Many people making the transition to working as someone’s employee to owning their own home businesses are curious about social networking. It’s a great buzzword these days and everyone is talking about the impact of social networking for business, but can you really make money doing it?
In a word, yes. You can earn a solid bit of money through your social marketing and networking efforts but that is only a small part of the process. You can’t just sign up for Twitter or Facebook and wait for the money to start rolling into your bank account as nice as that would be.
So how do all of these people make money through social networks? Here are just a few of the things you can do with social networks that will help you boost your bottom line and improve the overall earnings for your home business.
Connect with Your Target Market
Social marketing is, well, social. It’s all about getting out there and connecting with the people you want to sell your products or services to. It’s not about sales pitches and high pressure. It’s about starting conversations, listening to feedback, and encouraging your audience to interact on a more personal level than has been used in businesses in the past.
Consumers today are more educated than ever before. They want to know about the products you’re offering as well as about your business. This platform allows you to give your audience a glimpse into how you run your business as well as providing valuable information about what your business has to offer now and what you’ve got going in the works to improve upon existing products and technologies.
Don’t just be the person selling products to people. Social networking is about so much more than that. With these types of networks you can ask people what they like about the products and what they’d like to see you do different in the future to make your products better, faster, and/or more user friendly. When you encourage feedback you might find a few flaws to hammer out as well as some excellent ideas for improvements in the future. All of this is being done while you’re building rapport and relationships with your audience so they’ll return to your business in the future.
Relationship marketing is the wave of the future. Little steps like this help you build a relationship with your target audience but it also allows them to build a relationship with you. Buyers have a tendency to be more loyal to companies that they feel a personal connection with. The more you participate and encourage participation and interaction the better the results will be for your efforts to make money through social networking.
There are few absolutes when it comes to social networking. One of those few is that you want to always present a positive face to your audience. The information you put out there does have a tendency to go viral because social marketing and networking is so effective.

Seeing a number your blogposts I really found this particular one to be excellent. I’ve got a blog site also and would love to repost a number of snips of your content in my blogging site. Would it be alright if I do this so long as I personal reference your blog post or generate a backlink to the article I took the snip from? If not I am aware of and would never do it with out your endorsement . I have book marked this write-up to twitter and squidoo account for reference. Anyway thank you either way!
Hi Susan! Great to see that you are getting your brand out there. It is good that your passion is to help people. I have it from a good source that if you give without want you will get without measure. Keep up the good work!
It’s a good thing that you share this kind of info and post. Everyone can make money if they just give hard efforts and focus to the things like this as social media is really in as of this days.
Keep up your good post.
Cheers to you.
Well I want to share this idea. I do believe that this is valuable in regards to this post. More and more, people are starting to realize that Twitter is not only useful as a social networking platform, but it is also a very powerful marketing tool. The trouble is that it can be difficult to wrap your head around just how to use Twitter effectively in this manner.
As a solo entrepreneur or small business owner, you might be interested in using social media as a means to promote your business or ideas, stay connected with your potential customers and create more traction around your business. Probably you already have accounts on various social networking platforms where you share about your products and services.
Because social media is such a nebulous thing for many, you need to put concise parameters on what it is. Social media is simply an online channel that has the amazing power to go viral. In the very least, it has the capability to engage your audience in meaningful conversations about your product, company and brand. There are blogs, forums, social networks, social bookmarking sites, social news sites, video and photo sharing sites, wikis etc.
Thanks for making a really nice post like this one.
Formulating an online marketing strategy is vital when making the decision to include social media to your marketing efforts. A plan is required to evaluate the feasibility, know what steps you will have to take and to assist you in staying focused on. Thumbs up on you Susan.
As an internet marketer I love taking on new challenges. And this year, one of my challenges is to get to $1,000 per month with Adsense from scratch and with social media.
Many bloggers take launch to mean something product related, but I’m a big believer that your blog IS your product, and should be launched at least once. If your blog is new, launch it with a bit of a build-up. If it’s not new, maybe you launch a new series of content, a new blog design, this will make you profits and more money which you can optimize through social media.
It’s great… this is the post that needed to be viewed by people doing nothing on social media accounts but games and chatting… They dont know they can earn from it.. this is a great post… I like it very much…. Thanks for sharing this kind of information with me…
